MoCA Shanghai co-organizes the Shanghai stop of "Gong Zhen - Sport in Art Exhibition" with adidas. Initiated by adidas, 71 artists created works under the same theme of humanity and sports to showcase the spirit and passion of the Olympic Games through their talents. Some of them enjoy worldwide reputation, including Yue Minjun, Wang Guangyi and Zhong Biao. Following by Shanghai, the exhibition will travel to Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shenyang, Chengdu and Beijing. After the Olympic Games, all art works will be auctioned in Hong Kong. adidas will donate a portion of the money raised at the auction to charity, in support of further development of China's sport facilities for children.

Adidas is the official partner of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games who initiated this exhibition. Mr. Paul Pi, Marketing Vice President of adidas Greater China says, " Sport is a strong social and cultural force, which connects people regardless of nationality, race and language - just like art - nourishing and inspiring our heart and soul. Together, sport and art can elevate our perception and help us reach our own physical and mental limits - and overcome them with dedication, passion and inspiration. As adidas believes: Impossible is nothing. We hope that this exhibition will give audience an extremely unforgettable journey of sport in art. "

Chairman and Director of MoCA Shanghai says, "Innovation is the core value of MoCA Shanghai. We would like to make contributions to all-rounded and in aesthetics daily life as well as to extend the role of MoCA Shanghai in contemporary art. As China and the international community are celebrating the event of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, we fully support the innovative idea of combing sport and art by co-organizing this exhibition. Through this exhibition, we look forward to seeing interactions between the art of sports and aesthetics. We would also like to wish adidas the best for promoting sport in art in the future."

During the preparation and creation stage - lasting over one year - a total of 75 artworks have been created, including paintings, sculptures, videos, photography and interactive installations. We hope that adidas' Gong Zhen - Sports in Art will form innovative connections between art and sport to the viewers.
