I said a lot about him, my master. Nevertheless I thought he will be more valued rather than Zhang o Yue or Zeng or others. The value of his works remain quite steadily, without rocketing. I can not understand that because he is the icon of the Chinese pop, he has been the beginner of the contemporary art for the west.

It is also true that he has remained anchored in his Great Criticism series. Maybe he has been too hit by “fame” too soon.

The works in the Sanya collection are one example of that. True, probably they are his first works on ink, but are too much “teenager”! True “art and sex” could explain the gathering, I do not know what happen there, or explain an idea of gathering, but is too evident. I would expect something more strong from him like the more abstract works.

In any case, a Wang Guangyi, is a Wang Guangyi. And  here there are  5 plus 1 with Zhang Peili. That surprised me, I would expect less involvement from him, and on the contrary he is able to share his art with Peili. Bravo Wang.
